Treatments we offer

Acupuncture

KMS acupuncture utilizes a highly refined system of abdominal palpation (‘hara diagnosis’) to assess and diagnose problems of imbalance. Palpation is mostly done around umbilicus (belly button) to identify the areas of discomfort (‘positive reflexes’). Fine needles are only inserted if they release ‘positive reflexes’.

The advantage of a palpation-based system is that both the patient and the practitioner are aware when an area of discomfort is being released during the treatment.

Please read here about the general benefits of acupuncture.

One of the diagnostic tools in the Traditional Medicine is examination of the patient’s tongue. Please watch the video on how to take correct photo of your tongue before coming to your treatment.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a heat therapy in which an ultra pure moxa herb (mugwort) in burnt on an acupuncture point, or on the top of a needle, or inside a bamboo tube (Ontake). One of the main benefits of moxibustion is that it rapidly moves Qi and Blood.

If you are interested in how the ultra pure moxa wool is produced in Japan please read here.

Japanese moxibustion technique involves forming small cones out of loose moxa wool, placing them on the skin or at the needle insertion site and lighting them. In all cases a red burn cream (Shiunko) is used to protect the skin.

Ontake (on-ta-key) warm bamboo treatment is a Japanese indirect moxibustion technique with the application of pressure and rhythm. The Ontake moxibustion can be a complementary to acupuncture, or can be a stand alone treatment . At the clinic we offer whole-body Ontake moxibustion – a strong tonic treatment with the aim to increase energy, relax tight muscles, relieve stress, and harmonize digestion.
